What is GreenFlex Foam and what makes it different?

GreenFlex Foam is Leesa’s biobased mattress foam, made with renewable, plant-based materials and certified as a USDA Certified Biobased Product with third party-verified renewable content*.

What goes into it:

  • Plant-based inputs: Natural polyols derived from non-food crops grown on marginal land, so they never compete with the food supply.
  • No chemical conversion: The plant oil is a natural polyol that’s usable as-is. Most bio-foams start with food-crop oils that must be chemically converted into polyols—an energy-intensive process that uses only a fraction of the plant’s oil. Because GreenFlex Foam skips that step, it puts roughly three times more of the plant's oil to use.
  • Reduced petroleum reliance: It replaces a portion of the petroleum-based inputs used in traditional mattress foam.
  • Third-party verified: Renewable content is independently certified under the USDA BioPreferred® Program.*
  • Built for performance: It’s designed to deliver the responsive comfort, pressure relief, and durability expected from a Leesa mattress.

*What "biobased" means:

A biobased material is made in part from renewable biological sources instead of entirely from petroleum. The 26% biobased content of GreenFlex® Foam has been verified through third-party testing under the USDA BioPreferred® Program, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards for renewable material content.
