What base should I use with a Leesa mattress?

A firm, flat, and sturdy (no springs!) surface is key to maximizing the comfort, support, and lifespan of your Leesa mattress.

For maximum comfort an Adjustable Base is a great option. If you’re looking for a simple all-in-one solution, a Platform Bed is ideal. For a more classic setup, a Mattress Foundation paired with a Bed Frame is a smart choice, especially for smaller spaces or frequent movers.

Here’s a handy guide to Leesa-compatible bases and their benefits:

  • Foundation: A traditional, lightweight design, making it a great option for frequent movers. Pair it with a bed frame to securely lift your mattress off the floor.
  • Low-Profile Foundation: The reduced height is ideal for taller mattresses, making it easier to get in and out of bed. Its lightweight, easy-to-move design makes it a great choice for small spaces or frequent movers. Pair it with a bed frame to securely lift your mattress off the floor.
  • Platform Bed: An all-in-one solution that supports Leesa mattresses without the need for a box spring. Its minimalist design blends effortlessly into any bedroom.
  • Adjustable Base: Designed to elevate the head and/or foot of your Leesa mattress, offering customizable comfort for reading, watching TV, or sleeping. It’s designed to fit inside most standard bed frames, making it a versatile option for any bedroom setup.
  • Slatted Bases: A great option but they do need to meet a specific set of standards:
The slats should be the same width, flat, and spaced equidistant from each other, not too far apart (no more than 5.5” is best).
  • Avoid using slats that are bowed, curved, or flexible, as they will alter the feel of your mattress, can cause damage, and impact your sleep quality over time. Using these types of slats with your Leesa mattress will void our limited lifetime warranty.
  • Solid Bases: Options like solid (spring-less) platforms and foundations, or a bunkie board placed over a traditional box spring provide exceptional mattress support. Using the mattress directly on a boxspring with coils will void our limited lifetime warranty.

For the best experience with your Leesa mattress:

  • Always use a firm, flat, and stable surface.
  • Skip outdated box springs—they don’t offer enough support and void your mattress warranty.
Ensure slats on any base are flat and no more than 5.5” apart to prevent sagging.
  • Invest in a well-matched base designed for your frame and mattress type.
